Let's talk about what are the common failures of insulators
1. Poor contact
The metal conductor inside the terminal is the core part of the terminal. It transmits the voltage signal from the external wire or cable to the corresponding contact piece of its matching connector. Therefore, Due to reasons such as unreasonable structural design, incorrect material selection, unstable molds, rough surfaces, unreasonable surface treatment processes such as heat treatment and electroplating, improper assembly, poor storage and usage environments, and improper operation and use, poor contact between the contact parts and mating parts of the contact parts may occur.
2. Poor insulation
The function of insulators is to keep the contacts in the correct position and arrangement. Therefore, insulating parts need to have excellent electrical performance, mechanical performance and processability. Especially with high density, the effective wall thickness of insulators becomes thinner and thinner. This places more stringent demands on insulating materials, the precision of injection molds and molding processes. Insulation defects such as short circuit, leakage, breakdown and low insulation resistance. The moisture absorption, mold growth and aging of insulating materials can be caused by the presence of metal residues, fluxes and other contaminants and moisture on the surface or inside the insulator, as well as the formation of ionic conductive channels between the adsorption film of organic matter precipitates and harmful gases and the surface water film.
3. Poor fixation
Insulators not only provide insulation but also typically offer precise centering and protection for extended contacts. Additionally, they have the functions of installation, positioning, and locking onto equipment. Poor fixation may affect the reliability of contact, causing momentary power outages and severe product disintegration. Disassembly refers to the situation where, during the insertion of terminals, due to reasons such as materials, design, and process, the structure is unreliable, and the pins and sockets abnormally separate, which can lead to serious consequences such as interruption of power transmission and signal control in the control system. Improper selection of forming processes, poor quality of heat treatment, molds, assembly, welding, and other processes, as well as insufficient assembly, can result in poor fixation.
In addition, common and frequent diseases include plastic shell peeling, corrosion, scratches, flash, breakage, poor appearance caused by rough processing deformation of contact parts, poor positioning and locking fit dimensions, poor consistency of processing quality, and poor interchangeability caused by excessive total separation force. These faults can generally be detected and eliminated in a timely manner during inspection and use.
